Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly coat a 9 by 13-inch pan with the olive oil. In a medium bowl, stir together the ricotta, 1 cup parmesan cheese, the Calabrian chili paste, sage, salt and black pepper. Set aside. Spread 1/2 cup of the butternut squash puree on the bottom of the prepared pan. Place a layer of pasta, overlapping slightly.

Assemble the lasagna: Decrease the oven temperature to 375°F. Spoon about 1/4 cup of béchamel in a thin layer over the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Spread 4 noodles lengthwise over the sauce and cover them with 1/4 of the remaining béchamel. Spread 1/3 of the spinach leaves on top. Top with 1/3 of the squash slices.

Step 1: Season the butternut squash and grate the cheeses. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Butter a 9" x 13" baking dish. Empty the two cans of butternut squash into a mixing bowl and season with salt and pepper. Grate all the cheeses.

Peel the butternut squash and slice into ¼-inch pieces. In a large mixing bowl, add the butternut squash, oil, salt, and pepper. Toss well to coat. There's a sweet and earthy butternut squash puree that gives the dish a pleasant orange hue, and the basil-infused bechamel sauce is so good it would make eating a pile of wood chips a treat.

Reserve ¾ cup of pasta water before draining. While the pasta is cooking, add the butternut squash puree to the pan with the sausage mixture and stir to evenly combine.
