I'm a woman getting married in a few months and my finance may have a prostate infection. Since the prostate produces 30% of the semen that is ejaculated, it is possible that any bacteria present in the prostate could be transferred to me during intercourse and cause a UTI?

I am not a doctor. I am a woman who can tell you from personal experience, YES you can contract UTIs and worse (actual kidney infections resulting in reduced kidney functioning) from a male partner who has prostatitis. In my case, this has been going on for years. It started after he and I began having sex, many years ago. Before that, I had never had any urinary tract issues other than simple yeast infections following antibiotic for strep throat or whatever. But these new infections came on with a vengeance and eventually moved into my kidneys. Two GYNs told me after culture of my urine that I was apparently getting this repetitive infection from my husband, given that they started only after we became sexually active. Chlamydia and a couple of other bacteria which are oftentimes sexually transmitted were the culprits.

My husband never had any symptoms of a prostate or urinary tract problem, and would not accept that this could be the cause of my urinary track infections ... until a fortunate thing happened: His routine annual physical turned up a significantly elevated PSA. I went with him to the urologist, who (after doing a manual prostate exam and finding nothing) insisted that we should move on to a biopsy. I said "WAIT - please first try a round of heavy duty antibiotics that are targeted to prostatitis .... he has been passing UTIs on to me for years, and infection may be the cause of his PSA readings."

The urologist was openly scornful of this notion, saying that the urine screen which they had done on my husband contained NO evidence of an infection -- "and besides," he said, "men can't give UTIs to women. You must have other problems, for which you can step outside and make an appointment with my secretary." (Arrogant jerk!)

However, the urologist switched gears immediately when I told him that among other organisms, Chlamydia had been found in my culture. His response: "Oh. Well! In that case we can put him on 6 weeks of Cipro and see what happens - but I seriously doubt that it will help his PSA." Seven weeks later, after 6 weeks of Cipro, the re-do of his PSA was entirely normal - even low for a man his age. Our family doctor gave me Cipro for the same 6 week period .... and for a long stretch I was free of UTIs. Then it appears that his infection has returned - and so here we go again .... pass the Cipro, please.

You may not be a doctor, but you are very knowledgable and I'm glad that you shared your experience with us because I think it's important to learn about it. I don't think many people knew about the link so I appreciate it. Thanks again for posting it!

I would like to know what ever came of your situation, did the urologist finally get rid of the infection? I hear that prostate infections are very hard almost impossible to cure.

May I also confirm the UTI definitely comes on with a vengeance. me and my husband live in different states and when we are together the UTI has started to bother me within two days of our initial sexual encounter.

Chlamydia is a horrible sexually transmitted disease causing pathogen that is difficult to IMPOSSIBLE cure in males as it hides inside of healthy human cells. It sterilizes females causing a condition call immotile cilla syndrome which means it destroys theciliated and secretory cells within the human Fallopian tube epithelium that normally facilitate in the movement of sperm to the ovaries and effectively making the woman unable to become pregnant or possibly have a dangerous ectopic pregnancy. In male that are asymptomatic the damage is the spread to uninfected females that may also become asymptomatic spreading to other males. Couples must abstain from unprotected sex. Careful screening before marriage and then no sex outside of marriage is the only guarantee to protect your reproductive health. Unfortunately there are other bacteria such a pleomorphic mycobacterium that also play a major role that damage the sexual organs that are not curable. That is the cost of the promiscuous lifestyle promoted by the media. Now you know why you can not have any children as this is the major reason for it. The medical industry is silent about it as it is a highly profitable condition and helps keep the population down - this is by design of the globalist socialist engineers.

Oh my gosh thank you so much for posting your personal experiences, you were so helpful im almost postive that this is happening to me and my husband too. We have been completely committed to each other for 7 years so we have been each others only sexual partners. And i too had never had a uti or yeast infection ever ! He has had trouble with his prostate for the last year but he continues to brush it off his shoulder like nothing is wrong with him. My symptoms started about two days ago but since it was the weekend I had to wait for a appointment tomorrow. Some doctors are great and compassionate but some think that they know everything. Thanks again im sure you just saved me a lot of stress of process of elimanation. Good luck and I hope I will have this problem solved tomorrow.

To Guest 8/20/09: You are so correct that you are not a doctor. While Cipro may have cleared things up for you and your husband, be aware that Chlamidia is a STD, and not the same thing as prostatitis (prostate infection). The doctor is correct that "prostate infection" is not spreadable to a partner; however, Chlamydia definitely is. Chlamydia and "prostate infection" are two very different diagnosis.Chlamydia does not appear from nowhere, it is only sexually transmitted. If your issue was due to Chlamydia in your urine culture, alarms should have went off the minute your Gyno told you about this STD. I'd be way more worried about a fidelity issue than an arrogant doctor.

I think you may be right. I'm not a doctor but have been married to the same person for many years. I have had off again on again prostatitis since my 30's. I have had it off and on ever few years. I have begun to notice a few days to a week after my wife and I have sex she will get a UTI. I have had no symptoms of prostatitis until the last few days. I know what it feels like after having had it as many as 5 or 6 times. The last time my PSA jumped my urologist wanted to do a biopsy of my prostate. I said ok but didn't feel good about it. So I called and cancelled because I was going out of the country. After I returned I made another appointment and went to see him. I asked couldn't prostatitis cause your PSA to jump. He said well yes it could. I said well I have had it about 4 times in my life. He said well we can give you a round of antibiotics and see but I wouldn't count on it. Guess what after the round of antibiotics my PSA numbers went way down to less than what they had been in years. So I say question your doctor about these things. My old doctor who retired would have known right off what my problem was. I told this new one I don't want to go sticking holes in things were they aren't suppose to be. I stayed with him because he isn't a bad guy. But he knows I am going to question him. Hasbro been younger I may have just down what he said. But at the time I was about 55 well now I'm 60 and I think it is back so her we go again and yes my wife has been having UTI's off and on now for almost 6 months but I had no symptoms until the last few weeks.

Are you kidding me? There is NOTHING more factual than stating the medical industry is corrupt. Doctors are being trained in industrial medicine. The AMA is a Mafia like organization that is controlled by pharmaceuticals. They control medical research, protocol, the narrative, and Doctor accreditations. No other professional association has such a conflicts of interest, or criminal history of racketeering. People no longer trust doctors, but it is the Medical Associations that enabled the rot.

I have had None Hodgkins Lymphoma and when it first appeared an axcellent clinitian
told me 'they' did not know what causes that. Lately it has been researched that if a person with a long standing bacterial problem that causes the immune system to work
overtime due to that condition that can trigger the lymphoma.
In the UK it should never be that an engineer as I am has to obtain their 'own' antibiotic.
However thank goodness for the ability on the inetrnet to be able to buy what the medics would not give me I cured a UTI that lasted 2 years but as I've been researching this new to me infection of the prostate it looks to me that I've had it for about 35 years!
A doctor checked me and my wife for any STDs all that time ago but found nowt but to say that if a guys prostate has E coli embedded in it, it seems stupid to me to say that
anything that carries a bacteria comes out of that prostate will not infect ones sexual partner in my opinion must be wishful thinking.

What about the professor who says Eribola is not transmitted by air (droplet) & yet animals that were 3 yards away from infected animals became infected....... The professor should have a rethink?????? However it is publicised the medical profession do not want to cause any unnecessary panic.......
I would have been dead 2001 if I had stuck to a box of tabs a young male doctor gave me for septicemea but thankfully a lady doctor who I consulted next day told me you have to be admitted immediately because a tablet will never cure you. She of course was worth a million times more than the male so called doctor, the dickhead.
